Salad Ingredients
Broccoli – salad healthy
Broccoli is rich in beta carotene, vitamin K, fibre, calcium, iron and sulphur. It contains antioxidants such as lutein and quercetin. In addition, broccoli helps prevent high blood pressure, constipation, and toxaemia, and assists with the digestion of fats.
According to scientists, broccoli contains sulphoraphane which boosts the body’s own detoxification system by clearing carcinogen substances more quickly.
Sunflower Seeds – salad vegan
Sunflower seeds are delicious and nutritious nutty tasting seeds. They are rich in vitamin E, zinc, B complex, Selenium, magnesium and linoleic acid. Furthermore, sunflower seeds lubricate the intestines and prevent constipation. In addition, they contain Phytosterols a compound found in plants. When present in our diet it can lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease.
Bell Peppers – salad ideas
Bell Peppers are sweet and juicy with an abundance of vitamin C. In addition, they are a good source of Beta carotene, fibre and B6.
Lemons
Lemons are excellent liver detoxifiers and are antibacterial, astringent and antiseptic.
Also, they are high in vitamin C and potassium. Furthermore, lemons cleanse the digestive system, purify the blood, lower cholesterol and stimulate bile production, which help cleanse the liver.
Therefore, have a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon first thing in the morning to start your detox day.
Broccoli Salad with Capers
♥ 2 cups broccoli, chopped in florets
♥ 1 yellow or red bell pepper, cubed
♥ 2 tbsp capers, sun-dried
♥ 1 lemon, freshly squeezed
♥ 2 tbsp olive oil
♥ 1 tsp garlic, minced
♥ ½ tsp marjoram, dry
♥ ½ tsp sage, dry
♥ Celtic salt to taste
♥ Sunflower seeds
1. Combine broccoli, red bell pepper, capers, lemon, olive oil, garlic, marjoram, sage and salt in a salad bowl.
2. Marinate the mixture for ½ hour
3. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds
